What inspires us to go to such lengths as to force insipid platters of what we choose to term as healthy food? Perhaps the bizarre celeb diets to a great extent.

It almost seems like a trend now — celebs like Kate Hudson, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Ashley Judd and now Salma Hayek , making public their secret diet for a great body.

The Mexican beauty revealed that her secret to a great body was a diet of worms, ants and smoky grasshoppers. She savours the smoky flavour of the grasshoppers and the crunchy fried ants.

Television actor Ridhi Dogra feels it’s an obsession with dieting where one tends to go overboard, trying out every possible way to lose fat; but there comes a point when the body rejects these gingerly ways of ours.

“Probably that’s what happened to Hayek too. Pooped with all her weight control measures, she resorted to eating these creepy creatures. I would never do anything of that sort (laughs). I’ll rather eat well and go gymming instead,” she adds.

Actor Neha Marda says, “I am a pure vegetarian and a big foodie. I need to have my proper khana each day. For me, it’s important to be fit and happy as well. I bank on my yoga regime,” she adds.

Though the quick slim-down diet secrets of Hayek, and many other stars, may leave us awestruck, the question remains—is it really easy or even wise to give up our everyday tasty bites and munch on bland stuff instead?
