Priyanka Chopra calls herself a foodie and for good reason because she rarely resists good food. Calories be damned!

Even Priyanka’s illness and hospitalisation couldn’t dampen her spirits. “I don’t have the tendency to put on weight at this age. I do not diet. I love eating. I eat anything at any time. I never compromise when it comes to eating but I make sure I include a lot of greens in my diet,” Priyanka had said a few years ago. Fair enough. Human metabolism may have undergone evolutionary changes in Priyanka’s case. But now the actress has to be careful.

The latest is that nutritionists and Priyanka’s fitness instructor have strictly told her to stay off a lot of her favourite dishes (referring to food for now), to maintain her stamina.

A friend of Priyanka’s said, “Priyanka has been asked to go slow on pakodas, pastas, pizzas, pastries, burgers, chocolates and aerated drinks. She has a very gruelling shoot for Fear Factor coming up in the next few weeks.

For this show, Priyanka will have to perform stunts, which would demand a lot of energy. She is quite a perfectionist in all her work assignments and doesn’t want to be under prepared.”

Priyanka’s transformed food habits have not irked her father. When asked, Dr Ashok Chopra said, “This would in turn shed all the extra weight, if any and would tone up her body and improve her strength.”

As for resisting temptation, Priyanka’s father added, “Priyanka is not finding it difficult to resist the temptation. She knows how to say ‘No’. And the results are showing. With each passing day, she is able to walk more on the treadmill.”
Check out Priyanka Chopra’s homepage
More detail visit : http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Entertainment/Bollywood/News-Interviews/No-junk-food-for-Priyanka/articleshow/6161712.cms

Japan Shethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272983632680964897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4489354562999408887.post-83102910728467738712010-07-15T06:29:00.000-07:002010-07-15T06:32:26.169-07:00Rekha flaunts her ship figure

In a ‘dare-to-bare’ act, Rekha has revealed her ship-shaped figure in the latest issue of Filmfare magazine, where she made it clear once again that no newbie actress can compete with this 55-year-old when it comes to looking sexy and classy at the same time.

Rekha dazzled in her flawless avatar where she showed off her sculpted jawbone, cleavage, shoulders, arms, waistline and legs, along with seducing eyes and pout.

It is no secret how Madam Re feels when it comes to taking care of her ‘Mind and Body Temple’. The plump South Indian teenager, who made her debut into Bollywood with ‘Sawaan Bhadon’ underwent an unbelievable makeover with a strict routine of yoga and aerobics under the tutelage of Rama Bans in the ‘80s.

However, this makeover too was not free of criticism. There was news that Re underwent surgery to get into a perfect shape.

But Rekha claims she uses yoga, a healthy diet and good sleep to keep fit. The actress, who used to visit a gym at Hotel Sea Rock, now has set up her own gymnasium inside her Bandra bunglow. She also visits a suburban spa in Mumbai regularly for meditation.

Even ace photographer Jagdish Mali, who clicked the hot bod for Filmfare, said he had to do only minor changes in the photos as Re looked too ravishing for any patch ups.

"When we shoot digitally, a little bit of touch-up here and there is necessary. I've just made minor changes to the images ... haven't tampered with her figure at all!" Mali told TOI.

"We know she's been maintaining herself well. When you're young at heart, it reflects on your face," he added.

Meanwhile, Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillaai said the photo sessions are creating waves across the country.

“Got so many lovely reactions to the latest rekha's pics @ filmfare. Her sarees, her flair, her performances, makeup techniques, truly iconic!” tweeted Pillaai.

However, he regretted: “Rekhaji an actor who's not got her due yet.”

“Would love to see her work in movies with Aparna Sen, Zoya Akhtar, Mani Ratnam, Sanjay Bhansali,” said Pillaai.
For more detail visit : http://www.indiablooms.com/BollywoodDetailsPage/bollywoodDetails140710b.phpJapan Shethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272983632680964897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4489354562999408887.post-88873240466836341282010-07-15T06:15:00.000-07:002010-07-15T06:25:07.122-07:00Natural beauty seems to be rare in Bollywood beauties

Bipasha and this revelation is for all of them who drool over her sexy body. Reportedly this Bengali beauty who won the Gladrags Supermodel hunt also resorted to cosmetic surgeries for bigger breasts. Though Bips tried to keep it a secret, but her not paying the doctor’s fees goofed up the situation. As reported, Bips doctor wanted to sue her as she did not pay for the silicon implants. After the silicon implants, Bipasha’s bust line increased by 3 inches and now she has a big cleavage to flaunt. It’s an irony that though Bips has a very good figure, but those fake silicon implants doesnot make her natural. First she spends it on her nose job, then she spend even greater amount of money, to get her earlier nose back. Poor Koena, with all these cosmetic surgeries she looks far from pretty. In fact cosmetic surgery has naturally kicked the natural beauty out of shape. Koena had a broad nose which looked good on her angelic face. Infact Koena made a candid confession that her nose job was "a big fk up" that distorted her face and compelled her to go into a shell and avoid public life for months. The lip and nose job went horribly wrong.
For more detail visit : http://movies.indiainfo.com/the-fake-bollywood-beauties-1377913.htmlJapan Shethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272983632680964897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4489354562999408887.post-27093172107945524302010-07-05T08:25:00.001-07:002010-07-05T08:28:52.111-07:00Food for thoughtJapan Shethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272983632680964897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4489354562999408887.post-91046470494745552882010-07-05T08:03:00.000-07:002010-07-05T08:06:14.977-07:00Kareena takes a break from her diet

Kareena takes a break from her diet: Recently awarded with the title of People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman, Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor is bored with her zero size figure.
Currently shooting at Hyderabad for her upcoming film “Golmaal 3”, Kareena bids adieu to dieting in order to freak out on Hyderabadi biryani.

A source states “Post pack up Kareena would call for the typical Hyderabadi Biryani. To date, although many diets achieve effective immediate weight loss, none has emerged as an effective tool for maintaining healthy weight. The only definite recommendation that can be made about any diet plan is to be sure it includes an exercise program, assuming there are no health problems to forbid it.

The original food pyramid, with four food groups, has been replaced with an updated food guide called "My Pyramid." This illustrates the relative proportions of different foods that make up a nutritious, well-balanced diet and includes exercise.
Calorie restriction has been the cornerstone of obesity treatment. The standard dietary recommendations for losing weight are as follows:

• As a rough rule of thumb, one pound of body fat is the result of eating about 3,500 calories. A person could lose a pound a week by reducing daily caloric intake by about 500 calories a day. Naturally, the more severe the daily calorie restriction, the faster the weight loss. Very-low calorie diets have also been associated with better success, but extreme diets can have some serious health consequences.

• To determine your daily calories requirements, multiply the number of pounds of ideal weight by 12 - 15 calories. The number of calories per pound depends on gender, age, and activity levels. For instance, a 50-year old woman who wants to maintain a weight of 135 pounds and is mildly active might require only 12 calories per pound (1,620 calories a day). What are your current eating habits?
Do you eat at desk? Maybe in the car or on the bus? What do you eat during these times? How will it be compatible with your new food choices?

2. Are you prepared to eat differently than your friends at social functions?
Eating often accompanies many social gatherings. How do your friends eat? Do they consume foods that you know will not be compatible with your lifestyle? How will you address this?

3. Are you prepared to changed you home environment?
Does your home environment work with your new plans? You my have chosen to eat mindfully and leisurely. The trouble is, your home is utterly chaotic, noisy, and messy - with barely a place to sit down - let alone have a large pleasant space to indulge in your new gourmet meals. What will you do to change this?

4. How do your current habits fit?
What if your leisure activities always involve eating junk food. What happens if you start a diet that completely rules out junk food? What will you do? Change your habits? Find a different comfort food? Divide up your packets of chips or other snack foods? Think about it.

5. What about eating out?
Do you eat at restaurants a lot? Which restaurants do you go to? Will they fit with your new style of eating? Are you prepared to leave food on your plate if their portions are too big?

6. Is your kitchen set-up properly?
Take a look around your kitchen. You've decided to try the Sonoma Diet and you need to actually cook and prepare food. Trouble is, all you have are 3 forks and a corkscrew... Or maybe you're going to start making a smoothie every day. Now where do you fit a blender? After all, will you actually use it if it's stored in a cupboard 10 feet up? Or maybe you plan to portion up your meals. Do you actually have enough fridge/freezer space? Enough containers? Enough time?

7. Are you being totally honest with yourself?
You read about a new diet in a magazine, and it requires eating a lot more vegetables. On the surface you are busting to lose "10 pounds in 2 weeks", but deep down you know you cannot stand vegetables. Which part of you will win out in the end? Probably the voice that says you hate vegetables. This must be addressed. Why do you hate veggies? Are you prepared to cook more, or learn different ways of cooking veggies? Is it the taste? The texture? The time taken to prepare them?

8. Can you accept the things you cannot change?
You cannot change the way other people act and the way they speak - "oh, so you're on another health kick again are you?"... But you can choose how you will respond inwardly and outwardly - ahead of time.

9. Will you continue monitoring yourself objectively?
Many people reach their ideal weight, and then let old habits creep back in. However there are a few warning systems in place - one is the waistband in your pants. Will you choose to conveniently ignore it if it gets tighter? Or will you be objective?

10. How the lifestyle of family and friends affect your weight loss efforts?
If your whole world is filled with people who are couch potatoes - how do you plan to work against this culture? Will they influence you to be more active or more sedentary.Japan Shethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272983632680964897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4489354562999408887.post-61124766689696347732010-04-07T02:16:00.000-07:002010-04-07T02:20:31.009-07:00Overweight & Weight LossTen Changes You Can Make to Lose Weight

Appetizer reading Ten Simple Healthy Eating Habits.
1.Set realistic goals -
You didn't put on extra weight overnight so it is equally unrealistic to take it off quickly. Record a goal that you can reach in one month that is 4 to 8 pounds less than you weigh now. Set a goal you know you can achieve.

2.Spread your calories around -
Divide your calorie goal by the number of meals (at least three) so that you eat about the same amount of calories at each meal. If meals are more than 500 calories, save some calories for snacks between meals. Make sure you eat at least 1200 calories each day or you will lose muscle.

3.Diet foods
not required - Eat regular foods rather than the "sugar free", "lite" or "fat free" versions (except soda beverages and milk) because the calories in these "diet" foods still count towards your total calories each day. Diet foods are usually not as satisfying or filling so you may eat more of them. Drink fat free or skim milk so you can add some fat at meals. If you only drink 1% milk, then cut added fat in half at meals. If you drink 2% (low fat) milk, then don't add any fat to food at meals. Eat the basic food groups at meals - lean meat, legumes, dairy, fruits and vegetables. Then add one or two servings of grains or starches each meal to reach your calorie goal. Include 8 ounces of milk and one serving of grains, fruits and vegetables at each meal to provide carbohydrate fuel for your brain and muscles. You need at least 100 grams of carbohydrate each day.

4.Drastic changes not recommended -
The plan you follow to lose weight should be built on the how you eat now modified by these ten changes. A weight loss plan should be a plan you can follow for a lifetime by making small changes in the portion sizes you eat once you reach your goal weight so that you can maintain a healthy weight. Try the Healthy Body Calculator to calculate your basal calorie (don't include activity) needs at your current weight and your goal weight. There may be as little as a 5 calorie increase for each pound of body weight you gain over your goal weight.

5.Portion control -
Control meal portions to a piece of lean meat as big as the back of your hand from your knuckles to where your wrist bends and as thick as your little finger or about the size of a deck of cards. Other foods like grains, vegetables and fruits can be portioned to 2 heaping serving tablespoons or approximately ½ cup each per meal. Measure how many ounces are in your beverage glass or mug so that you pour 4 or 8 ounces portions.

6.Cook it yourself -
Bake, broil or steam food rather than frying. Consider cooking from scratch more often so you know what is in the food you eat.

7.Some fat is OK -
Limit added fat to 1 teaspoon (margarine or mayonnaise or oil) or 1 tablespoon of salad dressing per meal if this doesn't exceed your calorie goal. You can choose to put margarine on your potato or salad dressing on your salad, but not both. To limit salad dressing and make it go farther, serve your salad dressing on the side of your salad and then dip your fork in the dressing before spearing your salad for each mouthful.

8.Sugar is not evil -
You just can't afford the calories. Sugar only contains carbohydrate so use an artificial sweetener in beverages or drink sugar free soda in reasonable amounts.

9.Alcohol in moderation -
Alcoholic beverages are just as empty of nutrients as sugar, but your liver processes them like fat. If you drink, limit yourself to one drink per day (12 ounce beer or 4 ounces wine or 1 ½ ounces distilled liquor) and then only add fat to one meal that day.

10.Have your cake too? -
Probably not. Desserts are mostly fat and sugar which will put you over your calorie goal for the day.Japan Shethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272983632680964897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4489354562999408887.post-16398347016159746832010-04-07T02:14:00.000-07:002010-04-07T04:41:28.732-07:00Glycemic Impact Diet Meal PlanThe Glycemic Impact meal plan looks at the whole picture to achieve the right nutritional balance. You will enjoy a low Glycemic impact, unrefined, complex carbohydrates with lean protein and healthy fats at every meal and snack. The Glycemic Impact Plan allows you to limit simple sugars while increasing fiber intake to help achieve stable blood sugars and avoid hunger. This plan can also help you stay energetic even when you're reducing calories to lose weight. The Glycemic Impact Plan provides 40% of calories from mostly low Glycemic impact carbohydrates. Another 30% of calories come from lean protein, including fish, chicken and occasionally lean beef and pork, with vegetarian options including soy protein; tofu and textured vegetable protein. The approximately 30% of remaining calories are from healthy fats including nuts, fatty fish, avocado and olive oil.

Get Started Today and Lose 10 lbs in 5 Weeks!Japan Shethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272983632680964897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4489354562999408887.post-41478175003962475182010-04-07T02:12:00.000-07:002010-04-07T04:37:44.202-07:00Minimum Daily Calorie intakeIt is difficult to set absolute bottom calorie levels, because everyone has different body composition and activity levels. Health authorities do set some baselines - these are 1200 calories per day for women, and 1800 calories per day for men. This doesn't really make too much sense - are you are sedentary person with little muscle mass? Or someone who is tall, muscular, and exercises a lot? Absolute levels don't work - but do give us a starting point.
When reducing calories:

Try not to lower your calorie intake by more than 1000 calories below maintenance. Doing so may invoke the bodies starvation response, which can lead to the Yo-yo dieting effect.

Try to gradually lower calories. A sudden drop (such as 500 calories or more) can cause your metabolism to slow.

What happens when calories are too low?
1)Muscle mass is broken down for energy (catabolism).
2)Metabolic rate will begin to drop (typically) after 3 days of very low calories - this is related to, and compounded by the loss of muscle mass.
3) With very low calories you risk sluggishness, nutritional deficiencies, fatigue, and often irritability. You are completely set-up for a regain in fat if you suddenly return to your previous eating patterns.Japan Shethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272983632680964897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4489354562999408887.post-86052984505009172652009-12-14T02:26:00.000-08:002009-12-14T02:26:58.072-08:00Kim Kardashian: I was so unhappy with my big butt

Reality star Kim Kardashian says snarky criticism about her weight really bothered her a lot.
[Note: Season 4 of Keeping Up with the Kardashians airs tonight]

Ironically, Kardashian--who is most known for her voluptuous backside--says mean-spirited comments about her big butt hurt her the most.

Kim says being called "the Tush" by bloggers and a "fat donkey" by former Miss USA Shanna Moakler really got under her skin.

"I wasn't heavy, but I was being criticized left and right," she recounts. "It really brought me down." Rather than stew over the negative comments, the curvy 5'2" Kardashian worked out and dieted rigorously over the past few months, and has lost over 15 pounds.

Kim slimmed down from about 128 pounds to 109--a weight she hasn't been at since the ninth grade! The key to losing the last 10 pounds was being consistent with her diet and exercise.

"I'd always work out a day or two but would lose motivation," she says. "I finally realized [that to achieve permanent weight loss] you have to be consistent." Kardashian also broke her junk-food habit by cutting back on sweets and eating salads and grilled chicken.

While Kim is still working on her body, she's happy with the results so far. "I'm proud of my body,"she says. "If there is something you're not happy about, you can't just sit there. You have to put all your effort into fixing it."
There are many products on the market for weight loss and one of them is slim fast. The vendors of slim fast claim that by eating their brands of foods, one can rapidly lose weight. The slim fast products include shakes, bars, snack, packaged meals and liquids. The products are widely sold all over North America and Europe by unilever.

The company started to maker slim fast 30 years ago but has struggled with competition from other such weight loss products. The five types of slim fast products available include original, optima, low carb, high protein and easy to digest. Besides containing low sugar, all of them contain some protein and vegetable fat blend mixture.

The products are available in various flavors, sizes and formulations. In essence slim fast is basically a liquid diet. If you stick to the plan, the company claims you can lose 10% of your body weight in 6 months or about 1-2 pounds a weeks. The slim fast diet regimen involves eating 6 small shakes/meals every day. There is no calorie counting and no foods are forbidden- and best of all no exercise.

Experts say that slim fast encourages weight loss due to its low calories. The products sold by slim fast are all individually packaged and there is little guess work. However, the biggest negative of slim fast is that you have to like the products or you won’t lose weight.

What no one mentions is that these products are quite expensive and a month’s supply can cost anywhere from $90-$150 for a single person.

Whether anyone has lost weight with slim fast is debatable because most people who claim to have lost weight have been paid by the company. Anecdotal reports on the web say that it is difficult to suppress hunger pangs when on slim fast products.Japan Shethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11272983632680964897noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4489354562999408887.post-48411158914488312052009-12-11T03:38:00.000-08:002009-12-11T03:47:31.520-08:00Low carb diet increases heart disease risk

When it comes to finding quick weight loss diet tips that work, selecting your foods for your diet can be a real balancing act. You have to lose some of what you’ve grown accustomed to and add some items that may be new to you. Here’s some quick weight loss tips that experts recommend to promote weight loss.

Tips #1 - Reduce fat.

With regard EO fat, the research is clear: Diets too high in fat promote overweight and obesity. You should strive to consume no more than 25 percent of your calories from fat - and that fat should the “non-saturated” type.

Tips # 2 - Don’t be so sweet.

Numerous studies have linked table sugar to increased calorie consumption. While sugar doesn’t do as much dietary damage as fat, you’ll find that when you eat sweets, you simply want to eat more… of everything. Not only that, but sugar also makes your body excrete chromium, and chromium is a mineral that helps your body build calorie-burning lean tissue - so you want to keep your chromium levels up.

Tips #3 - Drink up.

“If people want to keep their nutrients in balance, they need to drink plenty of plain, unflavored water every day,” says Judy Dodd, R.D., past president of the American Dietetic Association. Water not only acts as a solvent for many vitamins and minerals but also is responsible for carrying nutrients into and wastes out of cells, so the body functions properly. As a rule of thumb, you should drink a half-ounce of water for every pound of body weight daily, unless you’re very active, in which case you should increase your water intake to two-thirds of an ounce per pound of body weight daily. So if you weigh 100 pounds, you should drink 50 ounces of water a day as a minimum

Tips #4 - Fill up on fiber.

You can curb your hunger by increasing your intake of dietary fiber, which is filling, so you feel full but eat less. For these diet tips, experts recommend eating more fruits, vegetables and wholegrain cereals.

Tips #5 - Get treatment for food allergies.

Some researchers believe that being overweight is the result of people craving foods that they are allergic to. For these people, weight loss is extremely difficult until they figure out what those trigger foods are and eliminate them from their diets.

IF you have health, you probably will be happy; and if you have health and happiness, you will have all the wealth you need even if not all you want.

Health is the most natural thing in the world.

It is natural to be healthy because we are a part of Nature—we are Nature. Nature is trying hard to keep us well, because she needs us in her business.

Nature needs man so he will be useful to other men.

The rewards of life are for service.

And the penalties of life are for selfishness.

Human service is the highest form of self-interest for the person who serves.

We preserve our sanity only as we forget self in service.

To center on one's self, and forget our relationship to society is to summon misery, and misery means disease.

Unhappiness is an irritant. It affects the heart-beats or circulation first; then the digestion, and the person is ripe for two hundred and nineteen <diseases, and="" complications="" forty-two="" hundred="" six=""></diseases,>

Nothing you can take out of a bottle or that you can rub on, will remove the cause of misery.
